We’re incredibly excited to feature Distant Cowboy with his release of CANYON SUN on majr. His expansive melodies began entrancing listeners from all over the world after his improvisations gained traction on TikTok in 2021. Distant currently records with Shawn Mendes, Raye, Charlotte Lawrence, Sabrina Claudio, Gflip, Chandler Leighton, Bahari, Luke Wild, Cody Lovaas, Kathleen and more.
Distant also scores independent and dance films and was commissioned in 2020 to write the complete score for “MBCH” a solo dance project through grants of Arts Fund in New York. He also recently finished writing the score to the newest piece commissioned by Boston Moving Arts “Topia”. Distant participated in writing music for PORTRAIT by the TL Collective for “Poussin and the Dance” at the Getty Museum. Distant Cowboy’s most recent and ongoing dance collaboration is with Kylie Shea (ballerina). The duo has several projects in the works for 2023.
Distant Cowboy’s classical background is widely diverse. He was principal cellist at the Honors Orchestra at the Kennedy Center directed by Ryan McAdams, as well as principal cellist of All-Northwest Honors Orchestra at Benaroya Hall under the direction of Gerard Schwarz. He has performed with Symphony Nova in Boston, Lincoln Symphony Orchestra, and has participated with full scholarship to the following music festivals: Stanford University, Cremona Foundation, Cremona Italy, Heartland Chamber Music Festival, and Glenn Korff School of Music.
His dreamy, soothing tones have been featured in thousands of UGC videos and have been viewed by millions of fans. Many of his listeners have connected to his sound, and relay how his music calms and comforts them through dark moments in their lives.
Distant spends his time doing what he loves best: currently composing, mixing, in recording sessions and constantly exploring new ways to share his music with his fans. His debut album, A Cowboy’s Love Never Dies is slated for release in Summer, 2023.
Canyon Sun represents being at the bottom of something while looking up and seeing the hope that is to come. The full Song Story releases on July 19th, 2023.
